Frequently Asked Questions about Kitchen Rental

  • After we receive your intake form we will reach out to schedule a new customer meeting with you.  Meetings are regularly scheduled on Wednesday mornings between 8 and 11am.

During this video conference we’ll talk about your goals and objectives and we’ll determine if Genuine Local is a good fit.

If it is a fit, then we spend the time outlining the steps necessary to begin working at Genuine Local.

If it’s not a good fit we will try to help locate the resources needed for you to move forward.

  • Kitchen rental costs $35 per hour with a 4 hour minimum per reservation. In addition there is a $250 refundable cleaning deposit.

  • Absolutely! We will make sure that you are totally comfortable using the kitchen before you are ever there on your own.

Once all the organizational and regulatory ducks are in a row and you receive your license, you will be ready to get familiar with our kitchen.

For the first 3–5 times you use the kitchen you will come in during normal business hours, when Genuine Local staff are present, to ensure proper training is provided (at no additional cost) and that someone is available to answer any questions.

You will be able to use the facility during off hours once you have demonstrated competency and are comfortable with operating all the equipment and implementing the Genuine Local Food Safety Plan.

  • We will work with you to make sure all the details are taken care of before you start renting the kitchen.

You will need to obtain a food manufacturing license from the State of New Hampshire and possibly a process review for your product. You will also need to register a business entity and obtain business insurance. If you will have employees, you will also need to obtain workers compensation insurance.

There are several things that can be in the works simultaneously since it takes about six weeks to receive a process review and you need that before you can apply for a license. This is a good time to work on scaling recipes, pricing development, label layout and making sure your business entity is established and appropriately insured.

This may sounds like a lot, but Genuine Local will help you out every step of the way!
